Derek Crain

Derek Crain is a seasoned data protection expert currently serving as Data Protection Architect and Chief Data Officer at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where leadership of a diverse technical team and development of program vision and solution strategies are key responsibilities. As an educator in Cyber Security at multiple universities, including San Diego State University, Loyola University New Orleans, Kansas State University, and University of Wisconsin-Madison, Derek develops and delivers course content for various levels. Previous roles include Data Protection Manager at Deloitte and Cyber Defense Specialist at US Bank, with extensive experience in data security and incident response. Derek holds a Master of Science in Information Technology from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Communications from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Additionally, Derek serves as a Bowling Coach for Mascoutah School District 19, fostering young talent in the sport.
