Joe Whalen is a Senior Laser Scientist at Computational Physics, Inc. since November 2021. Prior to this role, Joe served as a Postdoctoral Researcher and PhD student at Rice University from August 2013 to October 2021, focusing on ultralong-range Rydberg molecules and their applications in studying non-local many-body correlations in ultracold gases. Earlier experience includes working as an Undergraduate Researcher at Carr Theoretical Physics Research Group, investigating quantum many-body physics of ultra-cold molecules, and as a Lead TA for Physics 100 at Colorado School of Mines, where assistance was provided to faculty and students. Additionally, Joe completed a summer research project at NIST measuring lunar spectral irradiance in 2012. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. and an MS in Physics from Rice University and a BS in Engineering Physics from Colorado School of Mines.
