Katherine Goyette

Founding President - California Central Valley Chapter at Computer Science Teachers Association

Katherine Goyette has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Katherine has worked as a Computer Science Coordinator for the California Department of Education since 2023. Prior to that, they served as a General Member Board at CVCUE starting in 2020. In 2018, Katherine became the Founding President of the California Central Valley Chapter at the Computer Science Teachers Association.

From 2016 to 2023, Katherine worked at the Tulare County Office of Education as an Educational Consultant for Technology & Integrated Studies. Katherine'sresponsibilities included strategic consulting, educational technology integration implementation plans, and professional development for school districts.

In 2020, Katherine took on the role of Chief Communications Officer at the Know Me Initiative until 2022. Katherine also contributed to the development of Computer Science Standards as a Primary Writer for the California Department of Education from 2017 to 2018.

Before that, Katherine worked at the Sanger Unified School District from 2012 to 2016, initially as a Curriculum Support Provider and later as a Teacher for Grade 1 and 6. Katherine focused on continuous improvement, developing leaders, and designing standards-based educational units.

In 2014 and 2016, Katherine was the President of Region IX Student Charter at the Association of California School Administrators, where they facilitated leadership capacity building activities. Katherine started their teaching career at the Palm School in the Cutler-Orosi Unified School District, teaching grades K and 2 and implementing differentiated instruction strategies.

Prior to their teaching roles, Katherine worked as a Teacher of Piano and General Music at the Fresno School of Music from 2002 to 2010.

Katherine Goyette began their education journey in 1999 and completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English at Whitworth University in 2002. Later, from 2008 to 2010, they obtained their California Multiple Subjects Credential with a Specific Subject Matter Endorsement in English from California State University, Fresno. In 2013-2014, Katherine pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration at California State University, Fresno, where they achieved a GPA of 4.0.

Throughout their career, Katherine has also obtained several certifications to further enhance their skills and expertise. In 2015, they became a Google Certified Trainer and Google Certified Innovator through Google for Education. In 2016, they became a PBLCore Certified Trainer through Tulare County Office of Education, as well as a PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovator through PBS LearningMedia. In 2018, they completed the UDL (Universal Design for Learning) Trainer of Trainers program. In 2021, Katherine obtained the Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification from the National Council for Behavioral Health and completed the Dare to Lead Trained program by Dare to Lead™ Trained. In 2022, they became an Adobe Creative Educator Leader certified by Adobe. Most recently, in 2023, they completed the IBM AI Foundations for Educators program offered by IBM.

It is worth noting that Katherine also holds certifications such as Apple Teacher and Microsoft Innovative Educator, although the specific details of their completion were not provided.
