Mark Spencer-Smith has a long history of working in the IT industry. Mark began their career in 1994 as a Research Scientist Placement at D.E.R.A., a U.K. Gov. defence subsidiary. Two years later, they joined Unisys as a Graduate IT Consultant, where they were responsible for development, support, and training for client-server G. In 1998, they moved to Kenan Systems Corporation as a Systems Engineer, Client Services, where they were responsible for development, production support, configuration, and system testing for HPUX/Sybase implementation of the Kenan Arbor billing suite. Mark also served as the key client relation manager onsite for MCI Worldcom. In 1999, they joined Verizon as a Systems Developer, where they were the technical lead for enterprise Arbor/BP installation and was responsible for full lifecycle, including release management, architecture, performance, and support. Mark also served as the key liaison between the vendor and the organization. In 2005, they were promoted to Consultant Systems Engineer at Verizon Enterprise Solutions, where they were onboarded early in pre-adoption phase of Singl. eView as software engineer. Mark also progressed to ES support, release management, core design, architecture, and build, multi jurisdictional legal compliancy, and offshore integration with ultimate focus on client experience and cost savings. Since 2016, they have been working as a Data Governance Consultant and Data Protection Officer at Concirrus.

Mark Spencer-Smith attended the University of Portsmouth from 1992 to 1996, where they earned a degree in Physics with a focus in Physics.
