Michael Gilliland has extensive work experience in various roles. Michael began their career as a Musician in the United States Air Force, performing as a Principal Horn in an international U.S. military band. Michael then worked as an Adjunct Professor at Missouri Southern State University, providing specialized instruction in musical performance.
In 1999, Gilliland joined Joplin Schools as a Technology Specialist, where they provided IT support, technology integration, and user training for educational and administrative technology programs. Michael also worked at the United Nations International School as a Substitute Teacher.
From 2012 to 2014, Gilliland was an Instrumental Music and Technology Teacher at Concordia International School Hanoi, where they implemented and designed a comprehensive music program and curriculum. Michael also served as a technology trainer and facilitator.
Gilliland then moved on to the Universal American School of Dubai, where they held roles as Director of Technology and Information Technology. In these positions, they oversaw technology initiatives and provided support to students, faculty, and staff.
Most recently, Gilliland was the Director of Technology at Concordia International School Hanoi, a position they held since 2017.
Michael Gilliland has a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Psychology Integrating Technology and Learning from Grand Canyon University, which they obtained from 2021 to 2024. Michael also has a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Secondary Education and Teaching from Grand Canyon University, completed in 2013 to 2014. In addition, they hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology and management from the University of Phoenix, earned from 2005 to 2007. Furthermore, they attended the St. Louis Conservatory of Music from 1991 to 1993, specializing in Horn Performance, and Missouri State University from 1985 to 1989, also focusing on Horn Performance.
