Jose Alvarez

Jose Alvarez has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Jose recently worked as an Engineering Manager at Conekta, starting in September 2022. Prior to that, they served as an SRE Tech Lead at Conekta from September 2021 to September 2022. Jose also worked as a Site Reliability Engineer at VORTECH, starting in November 2022.

Before joining Conekta and VORTECH, Jose worked at Gobernación del Meta as a Full Stack Engineer from January 2020 to December 2022. During this time, they maintained multiple Linux application servers, developed and deployed numerous web and mobile apps, and created the passport schedule appointment system.

Jose gained experience at Mercado Libre as a Technical Lead from October 2020 to September 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Scotiabank Colpatria in two roles. Jose served as a DevOps Technical Lead from February 2020 to September 2020, where they successfully reduced security scan time and achieved significant cost savings through automation. Jose also worked as a Full Stack Developer from December 2018 to January 2020, where they contributed to the development of digital foreign exchange, payments and transfer features, and integration of banks.

Jose has entrepreneurial experience as well. Jose co-founded Beplain SAS, a startup, where they served as the CTO from January 2014 to December 2018. Beplain SAS provided software solutions for companies and individuals in countries such as Chile, USA, and Colombia.

Prior to that, Jose worked at Ministerio de Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones as a CTO (Subdirector de Desarrollo) and CIO Industrias Creativas Digitales. Jose contributed to defining the country's citizen services policy, designed and implemented the Citizen Folder platform, and developed an interoperability bus to connect public entities in Colombia.

Before their work at Ministerio de Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones, Jose worked as a Software Engineer at NDI, where they supported the Siteware MoM platform and developed new features. Jose also worked as a Software Engineer at Alcaldía de Villavicencio, where they developed technological solutions for the city using various technologies.

Jose's early work experience includes a role as a Software Developer at CODALTEC, where they worked with AngularJS, C#, and Oracle Database to support the health data of military institutions in Colombia.

Jose obtained their Magister of Software Engineering degree in Computer Software Engineering from Universidad de Los Andes, where they studied from 2016 to 2018.

Prior to that, they earned their Engineer's degree in Systems Engineering from Universidad de los Llanos, where they studied from 2007 to 2012.

In 2006, Jose Alvarez attended Instituto Meyer and obtained B2 English Level Certification in the English Language.

In addition to their formal education, Jose Alvarez has obtained several certifications. Jose completed the Frontend Profesional and Backend Profesional courses from Mejorando.la INC in 2013. Jose also completed the Web Development With Django course offered by the Ministerio de Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones in 2013. In the same year, they completed the Web Development With NodeJS course organized by AppsCo - MinTic. Jose Alvarez also completed the Curso de Diseño y Desarrollo Web and Search Engine Optimization Course offered by Mejorando.la INC in 2013 and 2012 respectively. Finally, they obtained the Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Developer certification from Scrum Alliance in 2019.
