Part Time Faculty Health Care Administration And Service Management at Conestoga College

Sumathy R. has diverse work experience in various organizations. Sumathy started their career as a Program Unit Assistant at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in 2013, where they assisted in coordinating refugee health programs. Sumathy then advanced to roles as a Program Unit Coordinator, managing international training inventory and refugee health programs.

In 2014, Sumathy joined the University of Toronto's Department of Family and Community Medicine as a Research Assistant. Sumathy worked on various research projects until 2015. During this time, they also served as a Planning Committee Member for the North American Refugee Health Conference and a Program Coordinator at the Canadian Tamil Youth Development Centre.

From 2015 to 2016, Sumathy worked as a Health Equity Fellow at Women's College Hospital and as a Database Officer and Research Assistant at Dignitas International. In 2016, they joined The Hospital for Sick Children as a Graduate Student, contributing to research efforts until 2018.

Sumathy then transitioned to a Program Manager role at The Canadian Centre for Refugee and Immigrant Health Care from 2018 to 2019. Sumathy successfully managed programs before taking on the role of Care Navigator within the same organization until 2019.

In 2019, Sumathy joined the Region of Waterloo as a Health Promotion and Research Analyst. Sumathy was responsible for managing divisional research/evaluation activities and also specialized in information system development for planning and monitoring programming. Recently, they have been serving as the Manager of Information and Planning, coordinating research and planning needs while overseeing special projects.

Outside of their current role, Sumathy is also a Part-Time Faculty member at Conestoga College in the field of Health Care Administration and Service Management, starting in 2023.

Overall, Sumathy R. has extensive experience in research, program management, and data analysis, with a focus on refugee health and healthcare administration.

Sumathy R. has a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in International Community Health from New York University. Prior to that, they completed an Honours BSc in Health Studies, Biology, and Anthropology at the University of Toronto Scarborough. In terms of additional certifications, Sumathy obtained a Data Science Math Skills certification from Duke University in December 2022. Sumathy also completed the Epidemiology in Public Health Practice and Epidemiology for Public Health specializations at Johns Hopkins Medicine and Imperial College London, respectively, in August 2021.
