Nina Morrissey has a diverse range of work experience in various design roles. In 2014, they co-founded and led MINIMA-MAXIMA, a company focused on designing and fabricating gender-neutral jewelry and home goods. Nina developed small batch fabrication techniques using laser cut wood and acrylic and handled marketing through events, digital advertising, and social media.
From 2015 to 2018, Nina worked as a Product Designer at Hangout Lighting, where they designed products. In 2014, they also served as a UX/UI Designer at Phronesis Techne, LLC.
Nina's experience also includes working as a MATERIALS DESIGNER at the Syracuse BioMaterials Institute from 2013 to 2014. Nina was responsible for designing polymer-based actuators for sports apparel and communicated results to research supervisors and corporate sponsors.
Nina has also worked as an Assistant Technician & Supervisor at Syracuse University ITS from 2011 to 2013, where they upgraded the campus network and supervised other employees. Additionally, they worked as a Furniture Design TA at the Syracuse University - College of Visual and Performing Arts in 2013, teaching students furniture fabrication techniques.
In 2022, Nina joined Confluence as a Senior Product Designer and Moment Studio as a UX/UI Designer. At Confluence, they hold a senior role in product design. At Moment Studio, they lead a team of designers and collaborates with stakeholders to deliver B2B and B2C products. Nina conducts research, user testing, and investigates user experience to inform design decisions.
Nina has also served as a mentor at Avocademy (YC W22) from August 2022 to October 2022.
Nina Morrissey's education history includes a Bachelor of Industrial Design degree from Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts. Nina attended the university from 2009 to 2014, specializing in Industrial and Interaction Design. In 2013, they also participated in a Study Abroad Program in London, United Kingdom, but did not obtain a degree or field of study during that time.
In addition to their formal education, Nina has obtained certifications in the field. Nina completed the Microsoft Reach Design Mentoring Program through Microsoft in June 2022. Nina also completed the UX/UI Foundations course provided by Avocademy (YC W22) in April 2022.
