Jay Kreps

Jay Kreps is the Co-founder & CEO at Confluent. Jay was previously a Principal Staff Engineer at LinkedIn from June 2007 to September 2014. There, they were the technical lead for LinkedIn's relevance and data systems. This included infrastructure such as their storage systems, stream system Apache Kafka, LinkedIn's search system, recommendation engine and collaborative filtering, and the social graph services. Prior to that, Jay was a Senior Software Engineer, Data Mining at NexTag from April 2006 to July 2007 where they worked on a system for collecting, analyzing, and optimizing data around merchant profitability on a large, high-traffic consumer internet site. Jay also designed the system used for this from the ground up and was the first employee on the NexTag data mining team when it was formed specifically to concentrate on this problem. Jay's career began as a Software Engineer at Movaris in April 2005 which they held until April of 2006.

Jay Kreps received their BS in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1999. Jay then went on to receive their MS in Computer Science from the same school in 2001.
