Eleni Koutroumanidou's work experience begins in 2010 at Democritus University of Thrace, where they oversaw lab work in the Pathology Laboratory and conducted wet-lab work, data analysis, and validation of variant calling and interpretation tools. From 2015 to 2016, they worked at the NHS as a Pre-registration Clinical Scientist, evaluating sequencing data generation/analysis packages, setting up diagnostic services, and providing cover for a national rare disease genetic service. Eleni then joined NEXTGENETICS LTD as a Director from 2016 to 2017.
In 2017, they worked as a Clinical Scientist at the NHS, contributing to the transition of the first comprehensive precision medicine program for children with cancer in the UK and establishing the reporting pipeline. Simultaneously, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Institute of Cancer Research, running a tumor sequencing panel and analyzing clinical reports while collaborating with clinicians and authorizing genome and exome reports.
From 2019 to 2020, Eleni held the position of Director at NEXTGENETICS LTD and also worked as a Clinical Scientist at the NHS. During this time, they participated in the analysis and clinical reporting of rare disease cases for the 100,000 Genomes Project, implemented MDT meetings, and prepared for the FRCPath1 exam.
Currently, Eleni is employed as a Consultant Clinical Scientist at Congenica, starting in 2023.
Eleni Koutroumanidou holds a Master's Degree in Public Health from UCL, which they completed in 2009. Eleni also has a Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Democritus University of Thrace, which they obtained in 2007. In addition, Eleni pursued further education and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Neurogenetics from Democritus University of Thrace, completing the program in 2014. Eleni expanded their expertise by obtaining a certification as a Clinical Scientist in Clinical Genetics from The Health and Care Professions Council in October 2016.
