Senior Product Owner at Congenica

Thomas Juettemann has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Thomas currently works at Congenica as a Product Owner, starting in March 2022. Prior to that, they were a Senior Bioinformatics Software Engineer at Congenica from October 2021 to March 2022. Before joining Congenica, Thomas worked at EBI as a Senior Technical Officer from March 2012 to September 2021, where they were the lead engineer for the EpiRR project. Thomas has experience with Perl, Python, JSON, MySQL, Docker, Kubernetes, and PostgreSQL. Prior to EBI, Thomas worked at Biobase as a Bioinformatician, focusing on adding new features to the GenomeTrax annotation tool for NGS data. Thomas led a team of 5 people involved in this project. Thomas also worked as an Associate Specialist at UC Santa Cruz from February 2010 to November 2010. Earlier in their career, they completed a Diploma Thesis at the German Resource Center for Genome Research in 2005 and worked as a Student Researcher at the University of Edinburgh from September 2004 to February 2005. Additionally, Thomas has experience as a Paramedic at the German Red Cross from February 1999 to August 2001, where they managed emergency medical situations and provided advanced life support. Thomas began their career with an apprenticeship at Stahlbau Ziemann, specializing in construction-mechanic techniques for metal and shipbuilding. This involved planning and constructing metal skeletons for different buildings, including technical drawings, CNC programming, welding, and cutting. Thomas is known for their ability to work well under pressure in multicultural teams.

Thomas Juettemann obtained a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from The University of Edinburgh, where they studied from 2006 to 2010. Prior to that, they earned a Diplom Bioinformatiker (FH) degree in Bioinformatics from Bingen University of Applied Sciences, where they studied from 2001 to 2005. In addition to their educational qualifications, Thomas has also obtained various certifications, including "Architecting with Google Kubernetes Engine: Workloads," "Architecting with Google Kubernetes Engine: Foundations," "Elastic Google Cloud Infrastructure: Scaling and Automation," "Essential Google Cloud Infrastructure: Core Services," "Essential Google Cloud Infrastructure: Foundation," and "Google Cloud Platform Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure" from Coursera. Thomas also holds a certification in "Workplace" from CEDR, which they obtained in November 2017.
