Caroline Heron has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Currently, they are working as a Senior Development Engineer at Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd. Prior to this, they held the position of Manager of Reservoir Engineering & Regulatory Affairs at Connacher Oil and Gas Ltd. From 2018 to 2020, Caroline served as a Lead Reservoir Engineer at Harvest Operations Corp, where they led a reservoir engineering team and played a key role in the optimization of an oil sands project. Before that, they took a maternity leave from 2015 to 2018. Caroline has also worked as a Development Manager and Senior Reservoir Engineer at Athabasca Oil Corporation, where they were responsible for long-term development plans and reservoir support for various thermal projects. Earlier in their career, they gained experience as a Reservoir Engineer at Nexen and BP, as well as a Corrosion Technician at Encana Corporation.

Caroline Heron completed their education in the field of Petroleum Engineering. Caroline started their educational journey at NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) from 1995 to 1997, where they obtained a diploma. Following that, they pursued their Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Alberta from 1997 to 2000, specializing in Petroleum Engineering. In May 2001, Caroline obtained a certification from APEGA (The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta) while working towards their professional career.
