Connecticut College
Shyanne Temple joined the Connecticut College Board of Trustees as a Young Alumni Trustee in 2020.
Temple is preparing to take the MCAT and apply to medical schools while exploring different learning opportunities at medical practices in the Worcester, MA area. She is also collaborating with members of her church community to create a program teaching black history that is not currently taught in the local school district to the youth of her community.
Temple was accepted in the Connecticut College Science Leaders Program upon her admittance to the College. She was a scholar in the Center for International Studies and the Liberal Arts (CISLA). Her coursework and 2019 summer internship as a research assistant at the University.
A natural leader, Temple is the former director of the CC Gospel Choir, where she led efforts to organize events aimed at uplifting students through gospel music, and the founder of Womxn of Color Collective (WOCC), a Conn club that builds community with women of color through meetings and events with students, staff and faculty. Since 2012, Temple has been a teacher in the Children’s Department of Faith Fellowship Ministries International.
While at Connecticut College, Temple majored in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology graduating with a B.A. in May 2020. She was the 2020 recipient of the Community Builder Award.
