George Welch is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in various roles within the legal field. Currently serving as a Staff Attorney at Connecticut Legal Services, Inc. since May 2023, George previously worked as a Human Rights Attorney at the CT Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities from December 2019 to May 2023. George has also contributed to the Committee for Public Counsel Services as a Staff Attorney in the Public Defense Division from October 2014 to December 2019 and served as the Vice President for the United Auto Workers from January 2010 to October 2014. Prior legal experiences include working as a Staff Attorney in the Criminal Defense Practice at The Legal Aid Society of NYC from August 2006 to October 2014, and as a Case Manager at Philadelphia VIP from June 2003 to May 2006, coupled with a role as a Research and Writing Specialist for the Federal Defenders-Capital Habeas Unit in 2005. George holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Finance & Marketing from Villanova University.

We serve low-income families in 122 of the 169 Connecticut communities (our sister agencies serve areas of greater Hartford and greater New Haven).
