Head Of Technology at Connectivity Standards Alliance

Christopher LaPré has a diverse work experience spanning several technology-related roles. Christopher started their career as a scientist at BBN, where they conducted research on data-based topics such as speech recognition and OCR. Christopher then moved on to become a project manager at BBN Technologies, where they developed commercially viable products based on government research, including a message routing system and an automatic meeting summary tool.

LaPré later co-founded Closer Communications, serving as the CTO and architect of an active badge system for trade shows and events. Christopher then worked as the director of applications engineering at Ember Corporation, where they played a key role in establishing the mesh networking industry and driving the success of the ZigBee Alliance.

At Silicon Laboratories, LaPré worked as an applications engineer, providing support to customers in Europe after the sale of Ember to Silicon Labs. Christopher continued their career at AlertMe, managing the technical relationship with Lowe's Iris team and defining the requirements for Iris-branded devices.

LaPré then joined Lowe's Companies, Inc., where they served as an subject matter expert in IoT, connected devices, and protocols. Christopher'sresponsibilities included defining device and hub protocol requirements and ensuring smooth operation within the Iris ecosystem. Christopher also worked closely with vendors' product managers to define products compatible with the Iris ecosystem.

In 2018, LaPré became involved with LaunchLKN and Lake Norman IoT, where they served as a mentor and organizer, respectively. Currently, they hold the position of Head of Technology at the Connectivity Standards Alliance.

Christopher LaPré attended Tufts University from 1989 to 1993, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Christopher then continued their education at Tufts University from 1993 to 1995, earning a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on EE.
