Jim Smith is a seasoned legal professional with a focus on business and private wealth law. As the Founding Partner of Smith Hurst, PLC since August 2011, Jim specializes in legal services related to mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and estate planning. Jim serves as a Commissioner for the Arkansas Economic Development Commission and a member of the Board of Trustees for Arkansas Tech University, where Jim holds the position of Chairman in 2023. Additionally, Jim was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Arkansas School of Law, teaching courses on private equity investing and corporate ethics from August 2002 to December 2023. Jim's prior experience includes serving as President and General Counsel for Good Day Farm and as a Partner specializing in Mergers and Acquisitions at Friday, Eldredge & Clark, LLP. Academically, Jim holds a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University School of Law, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Arkansas Tech University.
