Nicholas Ellul

Nicholas Ellul is a cybersecurity and application security expert with extensive experience in software development and security engineering. Currently serving as Manager of Security Engineering at Consensys since September 2022, Nicholas has been instrumental in building MetaMask's Application Security Team. Prior to this role, Nicholas worked at Shopify from August 2017 to July 2022, where notable contributions included driving a 40% reduction in security debt, leading a SAST program, and developing a DOMPurify-based XSS sanitization tool. Nicholas also held several development positions at Shopify, focusing on back-end and front-end technologies, notably Ruby on Rails, React, and Typescript. Academic achievements include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Honours from Carleton University and a certificate from Shopify's Dev Degree program.
