Senior Manager, Watershed Planning And Source Protection at Conservation Halton

Martin Keller is an experienced professional specializing in watershed planning and source protection management. Currently serving as the Senior Manager of Watershed Planning and Source Protection at Conservation Halton since August 2022, Martin Keller is responsible for developing an integrated watershed planning program and implementing a drinking water source protection program for the Halton Hamilton Source Protection Region. Prior to this role, Martin Keller was the Source Protection Program Manager at the Grand River Conservation Authority from June 2010 to August 2022, overseeing the Drinking Water Source Protection Program in the Lake Erie Region, and implementing regulations under Ontario's Clean Water Act, 2006. Earlier in the career, Martin Keller held positions at the Ontario Ministry of the Environment as a Great Lakes Project & Planning Advisor and a Water Resource Scientist - Hydrologist, focusing on developing Source Protection Programs for Ontario. Martin Keller holds a Master of Science in Natural Resources Management from Lincoln University and a Master of Science in Hydrobiology from the University of Zurich.

Conservation Halton

Conservation Halton (CH), formerly known as the Halton Region Conservation Authority (HRCA), is a conservation authority established under the Conservation Authorities Act of Ontario. It forms a partnership with the Province of Ontario, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the regional municipalities of Halton, Peel and surrounding municipalities. Conservation Halton was formed in 1956 as the Sixteen Mile Conservation Authority followed by the formation of the Twelve Mile Conservation Authority in 1957. In 1963 these conservation authorities amalgamated to form the Halton Region Conservation Authority which later became Conservation Halton. It was created based on the watershed of the two creek systems, by representatives from the municipalities of Mississauga, Flamborough, Oakville, Trafalgar Township, Burlington, Nelson Township, Milton, and Esquesing Township (now Halton Hills.) Mission statement: To protect and enhance the natural environment from lake to escarpment for present and future generations.
