James Asquith

James Asquith has extensive work experience in various leadership and management roles. James currently holds the position of Head of Business Development at Contact Energy Ltd since March 2022. Prior to that, from January 2019 to March 2022, they worked as an Independent Business Consultant at AB Consulting (NZ).

Before that, James worked at Caterpillar Inc., where they held several roles. From June 2016 to August 2018, they served as the Director of Strategy & Organizational Transformation, leading corporate organizational transformation and delivering significant cost savings. From February 2015 to June 2016, they were the Director of Innovation and Strategy for the Global Research and Development division, responsible for strategy execution and business partner engagements. James also served as the New Product Introduction Manager, Business Development Manager, and Project Manager - Six Sigma Black Belt at Caterpillar Inc.

Before joining Caterpillar Inc., James worked at Perkins Engines as the Control Systems Engineering Manager from September 1998 to September 2002.

James Asquith attended the University of York from 1994 to 1997, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Physics. James then pursued further education at The University of Huddersfield from 1997 to 1998, earning a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Engineering Control Systems. In 2002, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in International Business from the International Institute in Geneva. Additionally, in January 2002, James Asquith became a Chartered Member of the Institute of Physics, as recognized by the Institute of Physics.
