Douwe Kiela

Douwe Kiela is the CEO and Co-Founder of Contextual AI since January 2023, and an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University since April 2022. Previously, Kiela served as Head of Research at Hugging Face from January 2022 to December 2022 and was a Research Scientist at Facebook from October 2016 to December 2021, where roles included Postdoctoral Researcher. Kiela founded and led Brainstorm IT, a digital agency, from March 2004 to September 2016 and contributed as a Journalist/Author for Linux Magazine. Kiela also gained experience through various internships and roles at Microsoft, IBM, and Autonomy. Educational qualifications include a PhD and MPhil from the University of Cambridge, an MSc from the University of Amsterdam, and a BSc from Utrecht University.
