Aaron McAlister has extensive experience in fire protection and emergency management, currently serving as Deputy Fire Chief at Contra Costa County Fire Protection District since August 2016, after previously holding the title of Assistant Fire Chief. Prior experience includes serving as Fire Chief for the City of Dixon from September 2008 to August 2016. Aaron McAlister holds a Master of Arts in Homeland Security from the Naval Postgraduate School, expected in December 2023, and two Bachelor of Science degrees in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from California State University-Sacramento.

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is a recognized fire service leader providing fire and emergency medical services to nearly a million people across a 304 square-mile area, in and around the 19 cities of Contra Costa County, California. In 2017, the District responded to nearly 74,000 fire and EMS emergencies and provided expert medical care in the conduct of more than 75,000 ambulance transports. The District, with 25 fire stations and nearly 400 employees, is dedicated to the preservation of life, property and the environment.
