Brian Helmick

Brian Helmick serves as the Deputy Chief for Contra Costa County Fire Protection District since July 2022, bringing extensive leadership experience from previous roles, including Fire Chief at East Contra Costa Fire Protection District and Director of Fire & EMS for the 10-33 Foundation. Helmick has contributed significantly to various organizations, serving as Program Chair and Past President for Contra Costa County CISM-Peer Support-Chaplains Taskforce Association, Co-Founder of Fire Alumni, and in several leadership roles within Fire Districts Association of California, showcasing a commitment to strengthening and equipping first responders and military personnel. Helmick holds both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University.

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is a recognized fire service leader providing fire and emergency medical services to nearly a million people across a 304 square-mile area, in and around the 19 cities of Contra Costa County, California. In 2017, the District responded to nearly 74,000 fire and EMS emergencies and provided expert medical care in the conduct of more than 75,000 ambulance transports. The District, with 25 fire stations and nearly 400 employees, is dedicated to the preservation of life, property and the environment.
