Brian Oftedal

Brian Oftedal currently serves as a Fire Commissioner for the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, having been appointed by the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors. With extensive experience in fire and emergency medical services, Brian has held the position of Captain/Paramedic with the City of Oakland since 2015 and has also served as Executive Director of Priority 1 Consulting, LLC, where coaching and mentoring in fire service recruitment are emphasized. Previously, Brian was the President of the Board of Directors for the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District and worked as an EMT-Paramedic with American Medical Response and as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Bethel Island Fire Protection District. Brian holds a Paramedic License from Paul Cline & Associates and completed an EMT program at Las Positas College.

In 2017, the District responded to nearly 74,000 fire and EMS emergencies and provided expert medical care in the conduct of more than 75,000 ambulance transports.
