John Gioia

John Gioia serves as Past President of the California State Association of Counties®, representing the interests of California counties at both federal and state levels since January 2012. As a member of the Board of Directors for both the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority, John Gioia actively contributes to regional environmental governance. Additionally, John Gioia has been a member of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors since 1998, representing District 1, and has held a position on the California Air Resources Board from May 2013 to December 2020, focusing on policies for climate change and air pollution reduction. Earlier in the career, John Gioia was the elected member and President of the Board of Directors for EBMUD, serving a public water and wastewater agency. John Gioia holds a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with Highest Honors from the same institution.
