Kara Buzza

Kara Buzza, PhD has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Kara currently works at Convatec as a Clinical Strategy Lead. Prior to that, they held various roles at Smith+Nephew, including Clinical Evaluation Strategy Manager, Sr. Clinical Evaluation Strategy Lead, Product Claims Team Manager, and Evidence Outcomes Specialist. In these positions, they led cross-functional teams, developed and implemented global processes, evaluated evidence against claims, and managed a team of seven. Kara also worked at The University of Manchester as a PHD student, where they conducted research on oral health and taught pharmacy students. Additionally, they gained experience as a Trainee biomedical scientist in Bacteriology at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Kara Buzza, PhD, has a strong educational background in microbiology. Kara completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Microbiology at The University of Manchester from 2015 to 2017. Prior to their Ph.D., they obtained an Undergraduate Masters degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Hull, where they studied from 2009 to 2013. Kara also completed their A-levels in Maths, Chemistry, and Biology at Wyke Sixth Form College, Hull, from 2006 to 2009. Before entering college, they attended Selbu VGS, where they pursued a degree in Allmennfag.

Aside from their formal education, Kara has also obtained additional certifications throughout their career. Kara holds a Certificate of Competence from the Institute of Biomedical Science, obtained in 2012. More recently, they have completed several professional development courses. These include "Mastering Management Essentials" from ExecOnline, "Communicating Persuasively & Building Trust" from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and "Embracing a Growth Mindset" from UC Berkeley Executive Education, all obtained in 2022. Additionally, they have acquired skills in Power BI and time management through courses from LinkedIn Learning, with completion dates set in 2024.
