Kevin G. Phillips, Ph.D. has a long and varied work experience. Kevin G. began their career in 1998 as an intern at Owl Software. In 2003, they became a Graduate Research Assistant at the City College of New York. Kevin G. then moved to The Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY) in 2005, where they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant. In 2008, they started working as a Research Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Fellow at OHSU. In 2012, they became an Adjunct Lecturer at Oregon Institute of Technology. Finally, in 2016, they became the Director of Bioinformatics & Data Science and a Data Operations Engineer at Convergent Genomics, where they identified performant diagnostic & therapeutic opportunities via genomic analysis on a variety of technology stacks (AWS, Python, Snakemake, R, PostgreSQL, SLURM) with a focus on Data Science of Genome Informatics, Machine Learning for Disease Classification, and more.

Kevin G. Phillips, Ph.D. obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Physics from Rutgers University between 1998 and 2003. Kevin G. then completed their Master of Arts (M.A.) in Physics from The City College of New York between 2003 and 2005. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from The Graduate Center, City University of New York between 2003 and 2008. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Learn Python from Treehouse in February 2017, Full Stack JavaScript from Treehouse Inc. in July 2015, and PHP Development from Treehouse Inc. in May 2015.
