Senior Research Engineer - High Performance Computing at Convergent Science

Josin Tom began their work experience as an Intern at Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd in 2010. In 2011, they worked as a Graduate Engineering Trainee at Ingersoll Rand before becoming a CFD Engineer at the same company in 2012. From 2014 to 2016, Josin worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant at North Carolina State University, where they conducted computational studies and mathematical modeling in Mechanical Engineering. Josin then transferred to Duke University, where they continued as a Research and Teaching Assistant while pursuing their PhD. In this role, Josin focused on understanding and predicting the motion of particles in turbulent flows and developing models for Large Eddy Simulations. In 2022, they joined Convergent Science as a Research Engineer, specializing in High Performance Computing.

Josin Tom's education history begins with their attendance at Good Shepherd Public School from 1998 to 2005, where they studied a range of subjects including Science, Social Science, and Mathematics in the CBSE curriculum. Following this, from 2005 to 2007, Josin attended Good Shepherd Junior College in Changanacherry, studying Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science under the +2 CBSE program.

Josin then pursued a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Calicut, from 2007 to 2011. After completing their undergraduate studies, they went on to enroll in graduate-level coursework in Mechanical Engineering at North Carolina State University from 2014 to 2016.

Finally, Josin entered Duke University in 2016, where they have been pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, specializing in that field of study. This program is expected to be completed in 2022.
