Zhen Cheng

Senior Principal Engineer at Convergent Science

Zhen Cheng has a diverse work experience in the field of research and engineering. From 2010 to 2016, Cheng worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Delaware, where they developed a 3D two-phase flow model for sediment transport. This model was applied to various applications and collaborations with research groups worldwide.

In 2016, Cheng joined the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution as a Postdoctoral Scholar and later as a Postdoc Investigator. During this time, Cheng coupled a two-phase sediment transport model with a surface-resolving wave model, creating a three-phase framework that resolved complete physics for wave and current hydrodynamics, as well as sediment transport profiles.

Since 2018, Cheng has been working at Convergent Science, starting as a Research Engineer and later becoming a Senior Research Engineer. The duration and specific roles within this company have not been provided.

Zhen Cheng completed a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University from 2006 to 2010. Subsequently, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Civil/Coastal Engineering from the University of Delaware from 2010 to 2016.
