Steven Aks

Steven Aks serves as the Chief Academic Affairs Officer and Designated Institutional Official at Cook County Health since January 2024. Aks has extensive experience in emergency medicine and toxicology, currently functioning as an Emergency Physician, Toxicologist, and Professor of Emergency Medicine at Rush University Medical Center since March 2015. Previously, Aks has held the position of Toxikon Director at Cook County Hospital since 2002, and served as the Interim Vice Chair of Emergency Medicine at Cook County Health from July 2019 to October 2023. Aks was also the Fellowship Director of the Medical Toxicology Program at Cook County Health and the Toxikon Consortium from July 1997 to June 2021. Aks is an alumnus of the University of Rochester.
