Sophie Menzer

VP Advanced Material Processing at CoorsTek

Sophie Menzer has over 24 years of work experience in various roles and industries. Sophie started their career in 1997 at Alcatel as an R&D group leader in the Optical Fiber division, managing a team focused on glass science for optical fiber development. After their tenure at Alcatel, they joined CoorsTek in 2005 as an R&D Project Manager, where they developed manufacturing processes for new materials and products, specifically in the field of fuel cell development and production. In 2011, they transitioned to Alcoa as a Process Engineer before being promoted to Materials Fundamentals Group Manager, leading a team that worked on performance testing and failure analysis for materials used in high corrosive and high-temperature environments for the smelting industry. Sophie Menzer then returned to CoorsTek in 2015, taking on various roles such as Program Director, Project Manager, and Plant Manager, where they specialized in advanced material processing and powder manufacturing. Currently, Sophie Menzer holds the role of VP Advanced Material Processing at CoorsTek.

Sophie Menzer completed their Master's degree in Engineering from Ecole centrale de Lyon, from 1991 to 1994. Sophie then pursued a Master of Science in Engineering Science from Penn State University, from 1993 to 1995. Afterward, Sophie completed an MBA in Business from IAE Paris - Sorbonne Business School, during the academic year 1997-1998.
