Rafael Mayoral Monibas, Ph.D. has an extensive work experience spanning several companies and research institutes. Rafael currently serves as the Associate Director of Translational Science R&D at Corcept Therapeutics since 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Principal Scientist in Research & Translational Sciences at Applied Molecular Transport from 2021 to 2023, where they led project teams and contributed to strategic decision making. At Merck, they held various roles from 2015 to 2021, including Assoc Prin. Rafael gained experience as a Short-Term Scholar Visitor at the University of Pennsylvania in 2007 and as a Predoctoral Research Scientist at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid from 2003 to 2005. Rafael started their research career as a Predoctoral Researcher at the University Hospital "La Princesa" from 2001 to 2003. Rafael Mayoral Monibas Ph.D. possesses a broad range of technical skills and has worked on numerous studies focused on metabolic disorders, hepatic diseases, and biologic delivery platforms.

Rafael Mayoral Monibas Ph.D. obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biochemistry from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid between 1997 and 2002. Rafael continued their studies at the same institution and earned an Advanced Studies Certificate (M.S.) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from 2002 to 2004. Subsequently, Rafael pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid from 2004 to 2007.

In addition to their academic degrees, Rafael has obtained two technical certifications. Rafael became a Technical Specialist in Animal Experimentation at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in an unspecified year, and another certification with the same title was obtained from CSIC in 2009.
