Rob Gallegos MD, PhD, FACC has an extensive education history and additional certifications. Rob earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from UC San Diego in 1994. Rob then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from UC San Diego, which they obtained in 1998.

Following their medical degree, Rob Gallegos completed a General Surgery Residency Program at the University of Minnesota from 1998 to 2006. During this time, they also undertook a Fellowship in Surgical Infectious Disease from 2000 to 2003.

In 2001, they began their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Experimental Surgery/Tissue Engineering at the University of Minnesota, which they completed in 2007.

Additionally, they completed a Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at Harvard University's Brigham and Women's Hospital from 2006 to 2008.

Rob Gallegos has achieved several certifications throughout their career. Rob obtained Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association in March 2021. Furthermore, they received Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association in April 1998. Rob is also certified by the American Board of Surgery (ABS) and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS). Moreover, they completed BLS and ACLS recertification programs with Pacific Medical Training.

In June 2023, they attained the prestigious FACC certification from the American College of Cardiology.
