Charles Dean has held a variety of roles in the past decade. In 2006, they worked as a Front-end Supervisor at L&L Food Centers, where they managed a team of 6-8 workers per shift and handled company money through nightly deposits at the store's bank. In 2007, they worked as a Sales Representative at Abercrombie & Fitch, where they interacted with customers and kept the store atmosphere up to company regulations. In 2008, they worked as a Veterinary Assistant at Ailurophile Cat Clinic, where they actively aided the veterinarian during surgeries and appointments and ran fecal samples from cats on-site. In 2010, they worked as a Technical Aide at Michigan State University, where they maintained a professional and academic setting for current medical students. In 2013, they worked as an Assistant Laboratory Technician I at Emergent BioSolutions, where they provided daily care to animals and performed test setup and coordination. In 2014, they worked as an Animal Care Technician I and Gnotobiotics Animal Care Technician at Charles River Laboratories, where they monitored daily health of mice and maintained accurate records pertaining to animal health, breeding, housing and facility maintenance. In 2015, they worked as a Customer Care Specialist at GrubHub, where they supported a high volume of customer contacts through phones, e-mails and tickets. Finally, in 2016, they worked as a Research Assistant at CorDynamics, Inc., where they conducted and assisted in contracted laboratory studies and ensured proper controlled substance use and record keeping assurance.

Charles Dean obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Animal Sciences, with a Minor in Japanese, from Michigan State University between 2006 and 2012. In June 2014, they achieved a Cultural Transition Process Certification from Partners In Leadership, Inc. and a Registered Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician certification from AALAS.
