Christian Baran

Opinion Columnist at Cornell Daily Sun

Christian Baran is an Ensign in the US Navy since September 2022 and has cultivated a diverse skill set through various roles at Cornell University. As a Writing Tutor at the Knight Writing Institute, Christian provides writing and editing support, having undergone a semester-long training to enhance communication and educational methods. In addition, Christian serves as an Opinion Columnist for the Cornell Daily Sun, producing bi-weekly critiques on relevant events, and has experience as a Course Grader, responsible for assessing over 350 student essays. Previous leadership roles include guiding freshmen as an Orientation Leader and assisting in information science classes as a Teaching Assistant. Christian's internship experience includes conducting research on the burrowing mayfly at the Cornell Biological Field Station and policy research for the Chesapeake Bay Climate Action Network. Christian holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, awarded in May 2022.
