Chris Xu

Chris Xu is a prominent figure in the field of applied physics, currently serving as the Director of the School of Applied and Engineering Physics at Cornell University, where professional titles include IBM Professor of Engineering and The Mong Family Foundation Director of Cornell Neurotech – Engineering. With a focus on biomedical optics, fiber optics, ultrafast optics, and nonlinear optics, Chris Xu has significantly contributed to advancing these areas. Prior to the role at Cornell University, experience at Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies encompassed work on long-haul transmission with DPSK, broadband access, and optical imaging of integrated circuits and optoelectronics. Chris Xu earned a PhD in Applied Physics from Cornell University and a BS in Physics from Fudan University.
