Rick Burgess

Rick Burgess, PE, CEM, serves as the Vice President of Facilities and Campus Services at Cornell University since August 2017. Prior to this role, Rick Burgess held various leadership positions within the US Navy from 1987 to 2017, including Commanding Officer of NAVFAC Washington, where responsibilities encompassed directing capital projects and managing a team of 1,300 personnel across multiple Navy and Marine Corps bases. Rick Burgess also served in key roles such as Commanding Officer at NCBC Gulfport, Operations Officer at NAVFAC Mid-Lant, and Executive Assistant for the FIRST Naval Construction Division. Rick Burgess holds advanced degrees in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, as well as an Executive Program certification from Northwestern University.
