Sarah Johnston

Sarah Johnston has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Sarah is currently employed at Cornwall Insight as the Global Head of Modelling since November 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Head of Model Analytics at Cornwall Insight from January 2022 until November 2022.

Before joining Cornwall Insight, Sarah worked at WSP in the UK for seven years. Sarah started as a Graduate Engineer in March 2015 and progressively moved up to the role of Engineer in June 2018. During their time at WSP, Sarah provided energy advisory services to international stakeholders, including modeling energy systems, conducting techno-economic analysis, and delivering advanced training in software tools such as PLEXOS. Some of their notable projects included Generation Expansion Planning, Renewable Integration, Dispatch Analysis, and Market Simulation.

Sarah also gained experience as a Graduate Engineer at Parsons Brinckerhoff from September 2014 to March 2015. Additionally, they worked as a Vacation Student at Sir Robert McAlpine for two months in 2013.

Overall, Sarah has a strong background in energy modeling, analysis, and advisory services, with expertise in techno-economic analysis software and an extensive project portfolio.

Sarah Johnston completed their education at the University of Durham from 2010 to 2014, where they earned a MEng degree in General Engineering with a specialization in New and Renewable Energy. Prior to that, they attended St Albans High School for girls from 2003 to 2010. In addition, they obtained a PLEXOS Core Certification from Energy Exemplar in July 2020.
