Douglas Thompson

Douglas Thompson has a strong background in the mining and mineral processing industry. Starting in 2005, they worked for Thiess where they held various positions including Senior Project Manager, Site Senior Executive, Executive Manager Mining, and Executive General Manager. In 2011, they briefly worked for Calibre Global as the General Manager for Queensland. In 2012, they returned to Thiess as the Executive Manager Mining and later became the Executive General Manager. In 2017, Thompson joined CIMIC Group Limited as the Group Executive for Mining and Mineral Processing, as well as Thiess as the Chief Executive Officer. As of 2021, they are currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer and the Chief Executive Officer for Coronado Global Resources Inc.

Douglas Thompson completed an Executive Development Program in Business Administration and Management from the University of Cambridge Business School and the University of The Witwatersrand South Africa in 2004. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Mining Engineering from the University of The Witwatersrand South Africa between 1995 and 1998. Douglas also holds a National Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Cape Technikon, South Africa, which they obtained from 1992 to 1994.
