Angela DePoy

Angela provides internal control, compliance, and consulting services to clients in a variety of industries, most significantly within biotech/life sciences and agricultural products. Angela specializes in leading clients through the end-to-end SOX lifecycle from pre-IPO SOX readiness and control design assessments to SOX implementation, effectiveness testing, remediation, and SOX optimization. She has served internal audit clients with traditional approach reviews (sampling and testing) of financial processes, compliance with regulations, fraud risk assessments and examinations, and evaluation of non-financial operations. Moreover, she has focused on internal audit services using non-traditional, data-driven reviews (evaluating 100% of a population). As a result of Angela’s creative and thoughtful data-driven reviews, her clients were able to re-evaluate their cash management strategy, identify duplicate and fraudulent payments, consolidate spending to take advantage of purchase and net terms discounts organization-wide, identify bottlenecks in their leasing process, and uncover a significant fraud at a subsidiary. Most notably, Angela helped a client re-evaluate their month-end and quarter-end close processes to streamline unnecessary steps and substantially reduce the level of effort required by using robotic process automation. Angela is a frequent presenter on various SOX related hot topics, most recently having presented on the topics of key reports and the consideration of fraud as part of any SOX controls framework.

Prior to joining CFGI, Angela was an experienced Manager in PwC’s Internal Controls & Risk Management Services (ICRS) practice in Washington Metro, where she spent more than 11 years focused on compliance and consulting activities. Prior to her time in PwC’s ICRS practice, Angela provided compliance and consulting services in PwC’s Public Sector Practice to the federal government under OMB A-123 (a COSO based framework similar to SOX), leading internal controls design evaluation and effectiveness testing for two components of a security-focused agency. She also spent time in PwC’s Tax Financial Services practice where she provided tax compliance, transaction, and consulting services to private equity, portfolio, and joint venture commercial real estate clients.
