John Kahn

John brings 25+ years of experience with public companies, private equity portfolio companies, and other private companies to clients as a Partner at CFGI. His experience includes technical accounting and SEC reporting, interim CFO services, M&A transactions with post-merger integration and carve-outs, hyper-growth, turnaround, and other advisory work, often with international or global aspects. John’s experience covers many industries, including eCommerce, eSports, FinTech, blockchain, crypto mining, SaaS, cyber security, technology-enabled and broader business / financial / government services, debt collection, technology hardware, aerospace / defense, medical devices, and other manufacturing, cellular telecom and radio frequency engineering, plus scaffolding and construction.

John’s skills include technical accounting and SEC reporting; going public readiness, including for IPOs and de-SPAC transactions; private equity portfolio company services, including first 100-day planning; interim management services, including trusted business partner to CEOs; ERP system selection, implementation, and re-implementation program oversight; buy-side and sell-side transaction support, including M&A integration and carve-outs; and debt offerings and working with syndicated loan agents.

John’s recent experience includes interim CFO/CAO services for a “unicorn” eCommerce company, private equity-backed by The Carlyle Group, involved in a proposed de-SPAC transaction. Prior to that, he provided interim CFO services to a global company with championship eSports teams in multiple countries. John’s previous experience includes CFO roles in private, private equity-backed (DLJ, GTCR, ACAS, 3 roles for H.I.G.), public, and global companies. He also worked in public accounting in the UK and Silicon Valley and is a former big four Audit and Business Advisory Manager.

John holds a Bachelor of Science (Economics) in Accountancy from the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology (UWIST) in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. He is a Fellow in the Institue of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Additionally, he is a Certified Public Accountant in California, a Certified Information Technology Professional, and Chartered Global Management Accountant.
