Michael Fontein

Michael Fontein has had a diverse range of work experiences throughout their career. Michael currently holds the position of Head of Client Management WA/NT at Corporate Travel Management (CTM) AU/NZ, a role they have been in since October 2022. Prior to this, they worked at CTM as a Client Value Manager from July 2016 to September 2022.

Before joining CTM, Michael served as the Assistant General Manager at the Australian Baseball League, specifically managing the sponsorship and partnership portfolio for the Canberra Cavalry franchise. Michael achieved significant milestones such as securing the franchise's first-ever stadium naming rights deal and preparing grant submissions to the Government.

Further back in their career, Michael held the position of Director of Sales at InterContinental Hotels Group, leading the sales team at Crowne Plaza Canberra. Michael was responsible for directing sales activities across various sectors such as Corporate, Leisure, Sport, Entertainment, Government, and C&E.

Prior to their role at InterContinental Hotels Group, Michael worked as a Business Development Director at Crown Resorts, where they managed sales activities for Crown Promenade and Crown Metropol Hotels. Key account management was a crucial part of their responsibilities in this role.

Michael's career began at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. where they served as a Business Development Manager for Sheraton Perth Hotel. Michael focused on developing and maintaining a corporate account portfolio, negotiating contracts, and preparing conference and event proposals.

Before their time at Sheraton Perth Hotel, Michael worked as a Purchasing Officer at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, specifically at W Sydney. In this role, they were responsible for coordinating the purchasing of food and beverage stock, ensuring proper receiving and secure storage, and monitoring stock transfers throughout the hotel.

Throughout their career, Michael has gained extensive experience in client management, sales, sponsorship and partnership management, and hotel operations.

Michael Fontein attended Macquarie University from 2000 to 2003. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree with a specialization in Tourism & Hospitality.
