Senior Technical Project Manager at CorPower Ocean

Ross Harnden has a diverse work experience in the field of renewable energy and aerospace engineering. In 2021, they began working as a Technical Project Manager for CorPower Ocean, managing multiple research projects with the goal of creating cost-effective and reliable renewable energy from ocean waves. From 2015 to 2021, they were a PhD Student in Multifunctional Materials at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, where they conducted hands-on experimental research into electrochemically activated multifunctional carbon fibre composites. In 2014, they worked as a Technology Project Lead and Graduate Research Engineer at the National Composites Centre, where they managed project plans, developed data gathering strategies, and conducted destructive laboratory testing. In 2013, they conducted their M. Eng thesis project at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies, using a FE formulation and continuous fibre angle optimisation to develop a novel design method for practical composite laminates with spatially varying fibre orientations. In 2012, they worked as a Junior Engineering Consultant for Aquatera Ltd., an environmental consultancy dealing globally, specialising in renewable energy. In 2009, they graduated from the University of Glasgow with a First Class (Honours) degree in Aeronautical Engineering (M. Eng).

Ross Harnden obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Multifunctional Materials from KTH Royal Institute of Technology between 2015 and 2020. Prior to that, they earned a Masters of Engineering in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Glasgow between 2009 and 2014. Ross also attended Stromness Academy between 2003 and 2009.
