Anupam P. Puri

Advisory Board Member at Corsair Capital

Mr. Puri is a Corsair Advisory Board member. He is a director of the following Indian companies: Mahindra and Mahindra (a diversified conglomerate), Tech Mahindra (telecom software), and Dr. Reddy’s Labs (generic pharmaceuticals). He currently serves on the Advisory Board of Spencer Stuart, India. Before, he was a Director of ICICI Bank and the Director of Godrej Consumer Products Limited.

Mr. Puri previously was a senior director at McKinsey & Company (“McKinsey”) (1970-2000). Early in his career at McKinsey, Mr. Puri worked with governments in the United States, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Australia, and with United Nations agencies and multilateral development banks, on issues of economic development and industrial policy. Among other things, he helped create the plan for Saudi Arabia’s petrochemical industry, participated in the re-structuring of the European textile and steel industries for the European Economic Community (“EEC”), led the creation of a new structure for the Venezuelan oil industry and advised the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (“OPEC”) on oil policy.

From 1990 to 1998, Mr. Puri founded and managed McKinsey’s practice in India. From 1996 onwards, Mr. Puri was an elected member of McKinsey’s Board of Directors, and from 1998 onwards he oversaw all of McKinsey’s Asian, Middle Eastern and Latin American practices.

Mr Puri holds an M.Phil. in Economics from Nuffield College, Oxford; an M.A. with Distinction in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Balliol College, Oxford, and a B.A. in Economics from Delhi University, where he graduated first in the University academic rankings.
