Axel Wieandt is an Operating Partner of Corsair based in Frankfurt.
He is a senior financial service professional with expertise in finance, banking, fintech and digital assets.
Since 2016, Axel Wieandt has been advising US and European private equity firms, venture capital funds and real estate companies on their investment and value creation strategies. He also serves as senior advisor to fintech, pharma, and real estate investment companies. Since 2022 he also serves as senior advisor to the Jefferies Investment Banking EMEA FIG team with a focus on DACH.
He began his professional career as a top management consultant with McKinsey & Company in Düsseldorf and Boston before taking a senior associate role with Morgan Stanley Ltd. in London. He then joined Deutsche Bank AG, where he was appointed the youngest divisional board member in the Corporate Center in 2000 and Global Head of Corporate Development in 2001 with groupwide responsibility for strategy formulation and M&A execution. Starting in 2003, he also served as Global Head of Corporate Investments with P&L responsibility for a multi-billion Euro portfolio of listed and private investments. In October 2008, at the request of a consortium of German financial institutions, Axel Wieandt was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Hypo Real Estate Holding AG, at that time a DAX 30 banking group. From 2011 to 2012, he was a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Department/Financial Institutions Group of Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) Ltd. and in October 2012, at the request of the German Deposit Insurance Fund, he was appointed CEO of Valovis Bank AG, where he remained until April 2015.
Axel Wieandt is an honorary professor at WHU since 2004 and has been teaching at WHU Otto-Beisheim School of Management, Goethe University Frankfurt and Kellogg Graduate School of Management/Northwestern University.
