Mikael Philipsson has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Mikael began their career in 1993 as a horsetrainer at Stall Claus Rath and later worked as a self-employed individual in the textile industry and horse training. In 1995, they served as a Sales Representative at Svensk KabelTV.
In 1996, Mikael joined the Swedish Armed Forces as a Technical Officer, specializing in tactical mobile and satellite networks. During their time there, they played a key role in developing an IP-based voice solution and served as a project manager for establishing data and telecommunication environments.
From 2000 onwards, Mikael held several leadership positions at IP-Only. Mikael started as the CTO and Sales Manager, later becoming the CTO and responsible for Strategic Infrastructure Sales. Eventually, they became the CEO of IP-Only Networks AB and CINO, overseeing the company's B2B offering and network assets. Under their leadership, the company experienced significant growth and completed various acquisitions. Mikael also served as the Group CEO and implemented a new strategy, leading to the sale of the company to EQT.
In 2017, Mikael founded Misali Advisory, offering advisory services in the fiber infrastructure, internet, and telecom industry. Mikael served as the CEO and Founder, mentoring executive leaders and entrepreneurs in high growth companies.
Mikael joined Open Systems in 2019 as the Global Head of Customer Operations, contributing to the company's customer service and operations until early 2021. Mikael also served as the CEO of COS Systems, a role they took on in February 2021, and became a Board Member of COS Systems and EQT Partners/EQT AB in 2020.
Throughout their career, Mikael has demonstrated expertise in leadership, strategy implementation, sales, and marketing, particularly in the telecommunications industry.
Mikael Philipsson's education history includes certifications and degrees spanning multiple fields and institutions. In 1999, they obtained a certification from the Armed Forces Technical Academy, specializing in working in electrical environments. Moving forward, in 2004, they attended Ahrens University for business management and culture driven organization studies, completing them in 2005. Earlier, from 1996 to 1998, Mikael pursued the Technical Officer Program in telecom and tactical Internet at Försvarshögskolan - Swedish Defence University, earning the degree of Lieutenant, technical officer. In 1998, they attended Mid Sweden University where they focused on formal communication in English. Additionally, in 1995, they studied business law at Uppsala University. Prior to their higher education, Mikael completed a 4-year Technical Gymnasium program at Katedralskolan and Fyrisskolan from 1989 to 1993. Finally, in 2019, they enrolled in Styrleseakademien, where they specialized in board management, receiving a degree titled "Rätt fokus i styrelsearbetet".
