Derek Sham

Derek Sham is the current Founder & CEO at Cosm Medical. Prior to this, Derek was the Global Marketing Director at LABORIE from January 2016 to January 2017. In this role, Derek worked alongside the leadership team, consultants, and bankers on the analysis, development of materials, and management presentations for the successful sale of LABORIE by Audax Private Equity. Derek also led the analysis and development of 5-year product and growth strategy. From October 2013 to December 2015, Derek was the General Manager- Equipment where they had P&L responsibility for about half of LABORIE sales. Derek successfully grew a new team and launched products and marketing packages. Additionally, Derek champion a new product in a mature category which increased sales YOY by ~25%. Derek Sham began their career at LABORIE in 2007 as an R&D Manager & Biomedical Systems Engineer before being promoted to Product & Project Manager in 2009.

Derek Sham completed a Masters in Business Administration at the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management. Derek also holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from the University of Guelph. Derek is certified by PADI in Advanced scuba certification and by Yoga Alliance in Yoga Teacher Training (YTT-200hr).
