Edward Barnes is a seasoned professional in agricultural and environmental research, currently serving as the Director of the Agricultural and Environmental Research Division at Cotton Incorporated since November 2002. In this role, Edward oversees research projects across the Cotton Belt, focusing on engineering principles applied to cotton production, including conservation tillage, irrigation management, precision agriculture, and harvest technology. Prior to this position, Edward was part of an interdisciplinary team at USDA-ARS from November 1995 to November 2002, where contributions were made to the development of remote sensing applications for farm management in precision agriculture. Edward holds a Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering from Oklahoma State University and both M.S. and B.S. degrees in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from North Carolina State University.
