SVP & Chief Legal Officer at Couchbase

Margaret Chow is the SVP, Chief Legal Officer at Couchbase. Margaret has over a decade of experience in legal affairs, specializing in commercial transactions, data privacy, intellectual property, litigation, and corporate and employment law. Prior to joining Couchbase, Ms. Chow served as the VP, Deputy General Counsel at Medallia from February 2014 to December 2019. In this role, they were responsible for managing all aspects of Medallia’s legal affairs, including contract negotiation, risk management, and compliance. Ms. Chow also served as the Associate General Counsel at Usablenet Inc. from January 2011 to December 2014. In this role, they were responsible for all legal aspects of Usablenet’s enterprise SaaS platform, which optimizes clients’ website content, functionality and e-commerce capabilities for mobile devices and applications. Usablenet served 25% of Fortune 1000 companies, and was named as the 5th fastest growing private company in New York in 2012 by Crain’s Fast 50 List. Prior to joining Usablenet, Ms. Chow was an associate at Davis Polk and Wardwell LLP from January 2008 to December 2011, where they specialized in capital markets, executive compensation, intellectual property, and M&A. Ms. Chow is a graduate of Harvard Law School and the University of Toronto.

Margaret Chow received a JD from Yale Law School and a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology and economics from the University of California, Berkeley.

They work with Scott Anderson - SVP, Product Management and Business Operations, Ravi Mayuram - CTO, and Huw Owen - Chief Revenue Officer. Margaret Chow reports to Matt Cain, President & CEO.
