Jorge Marin

Jorge Marin has a diverse work experience in the field of electrical engineering. Jorge has worked as a Principal Electrical Engineer at Cougar Drilling Solutions, where they were responsible for electronics design, firmware development, and testing for a rotary steerable system. Prior to this, Jorge worked as a Senior Electrical Engineer and Firmware Developer at the same company, where they focused on electronics design, firmware development, and code reviews.

Before joining Cougar Drilling Solutions, Jorge worked as an Electrical and Controls Engineer at Mobile Data Technologies, where they designed, implemented, and improved electrical boards and systems. Jorge also conducted engineering calculations, prepared technical drawings, and ensured compliance with standards and customer requirements.

Jorge gained research experience as a Research Assistant at the University of Alberta, where they worked on a UAV platform and was involved in the development of hardware platforms and redesign of a fixed-wing UAV model.

Jorge also held positions as an Engineering Lead at YoFumo Technologies, Inc., where they managed the engineering division and led the research and development of electronic systems. Jorge also worked as an R&D Electronics Engineer at VOR Marketing, focusing on the research and development of an Indoor Positioning System based on Bluetooth Low Energy Beacons. Jorge started their career as a Project Engineer at Pemica.

Jorge Marin holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta, which they obtained from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Universidad Simón Bolívar, where they studied from 2006 to 2012. In 2010, Jorge also briefly studied Information Technology at Åbo Akademi University. In terms of certifications, they obtained a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) certification from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) in 2023. Additionally, they completed certifications in Competitive Strategy and Machine Learning from Coursera in 2015 and 2014, respectively.
