Arthur Forbes

Political Administrator - European Council, Strategic Planning & Briefings at Council of the European Union

Arthur Forbes is a seasoned political administrator currently serving in the strategic planning unit of the Council of the European Union since May 2019. Forbes previously held the role of Political Administrator focusing on Intellectual Property policy, aiding the EU Presidencies in achieving policy objectives. Their extensive experience includes a decade at the European Commission as a Principal Administrator in DG GROW, as well as serving as Deputy Head of Cabinet for the EU Commissioner for Research & Innovation. Forbes also worked as an Attaché on Intellectual Property during a secondment to the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland. Earlier, Forbes led the Brussels office of the Irish Business and Employers Confederation (Ibec) and was the Permanent Delegate to BusinessEurope. Educational credentials include a Diploma in Leadership Studies from the University of Exeter, a Diplôme en études européennes from Université libre de Bruxelles, and both a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in History from University College Dublin.
